In our ViNN:Lab Recycling project we wanted to demonstrate how misprints, support material and other PLA leftovers can be recycled and reused to create something new.

Therefore we shredded PLA misprints and leftovers from a variety of prints and melted the shredded PLA in a conventional oven.

Afterwards we had a solid PLA plate which we reused at the Lab. In this case we lasered rings out of the recycled PLA plate.

From now on we plan to reuse as much of our PLA leftovers as possible this way :)

Right now some of our employees and users work on different projects involving fashion and textile materials.

At the last open lab day some creative tinkers lasered fashion accessories out of acrylic glass and MDF as well as researched if one can 3D print directly onto textile materials.

We also have a new intern at the lab! In the upcoming weeks Jesse will work on different projects involving the scanning and 3D printing of a pair of shoes.

If you guys have some ideas on how to combine newest technology with textiles, than stop by our next Open Lab Day this Wednesday from 9am-7pm or this Saturday from 9am-5pm.

Today we want to introduce you to our „newbie“ Carvey.

Carvey is a mobile milling machine with an easy to use interface and almost no learning curve involved.

You can already book your first session with carvey via setmore.

We are very looking forward to the awesome projects you guys are going to create with her.

OLD Review.

Last Wednesday we held another awesome Open Lab Day at the ViNN:Lab.

Some of our users got familiar with our 3D scanners while others made some arrangements for the first BBQ or beach visit of the year and lasered themselves some cupholders out of MDF.

All in all a full success and we are very looking forward to our next OLD.

ViNN:Lab Canteen Action.

Last Tuesday we changed up the boring canteen routine with a quick and creative initiative from the Lab.

Our team handed out selflasered „tinkercards“ among the canteen visitors which allowed them to build either a box or pinwheel.

Our team purposely didn’t hand out any instructors among the students to provoke a little creativity.

The idea turned out to work flawlessly since some students even created chairs and other small projects out of their cards.

The initiative was a full success and probably caused some positiv variation among the students and we wouldn’t be surprised to find some of the creative tinkers at the next Open Lab Day.
